As organisations advance towards new-age technologies, the architecture framework provides principles and practices for creating and using architecture description of a system/systems. Over the last 5 years we have seen many Digital Transformation programmes being adopted by large financial services companies all the way to large public bodies. We will now see “continual business transformation” as technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, organisation must ensure they are in a constant pace of evolution which has been massively accelerated by the Global Pandemic.
At present the Architecture market is heavily candidate driven and is highly leaning towards the contractor market with daily rates from £500-900/day depending on level/role. This has been swayed slightly by IR35 in April 2021 for the private sector but organisations must ensure they have the right salary package/environment and work to hire architects into the IT department. For example, the average Solutions Architect salary has risen from £62,000 in 2017 to £85,000 in 2022, showing the demand and lack of available talent in the market.
Nearly two-thirds of CIO’s/CTO’s say a lack of talent holds their organisation back according to a survey from KPMG. This is never more true than the demand for Microsoft Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud and Google Cloud. We highly recommend the use of contractor resource and allowing time to find the right fit and experience for the programme of work.
This skillset is already in high demand, and will be into 2023. With many organisations investing in Business Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation and wider analytics to harness data, it could be the next gold rush. We're on the way to have 25 billion connected devices, making it difficult to separate the mission-critical from the nice to-have, without understanding and processing large and complex data sets.
