A growing and highly respected financial services organisation is looking for a hands-on QA Lead to help drive the next stage of its automation journey.
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative technology team where quality engineering is a genuine priority. You'll lead a small but capable QA function, helping shape automation strategy, mentoring team members and remaining actively involved in framework development, test automation and CI/CD integration.
We're looking for someone who enjoys balancing technical leadership with hands-on delivery and can help raise automation maturity across multiple products and projects.
The Role
As QA Lead, you will:
- Lead and evolve the test automation strategy across key business applications.
- Build, enhance and maintain automation frameworks.
- Contribute hands-on to test automation development and execution.
- Work closely with developers, product teams and DevOps engineers to embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Introduce best practices around test design, test coverage, reporting and quality assurance.
- Mentor and support QA professionals who are developing their automation skills.
- Champion a modern, risk-based approach to testing and continuous improvement.
- Help drive automation adoption across the wider technology function.
What We're Looking For
We're open to candidates from a range of automation backgrounds. Experience with Playwright or Tosca would be beneficial, but strong automation fundamentals are far more important than specific tool exposure.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Senior QA, Lead QA or Test Lead position.
- Strong hands-on automation experience using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or similar.
- Experience designing and building automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience working with API testing tools and automation.
- Ability to coach, mentor and develop other QA professionals.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, C# or comparable languages.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Tosca.
- Experience within financial services, wealth management or other regulated environments.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud-based delivery environments.
Who Could Be a Fit?
This role could suit an established QA Lead looking for a fresh challenge, or a strong Senior QA Automation Engineer ready to take their first leadership role.
The successful candidate will be technically credible, passionate about automation, and eager to influence both people and processes.
What's on Offer?
- £70,000-£80,000 base salary
- Annual bonus
- Strong investment in learning and development
- Opportunity to learn and gain exposure to Playwright and Tosca
- Significant influence over QA strategy and automation direction
- Hybrid working model with three days per week in the London office
If you're passionate about automation and want a role where you can genuinely shape quality engineering standards while remaining hands-on, we'd love to hear from you.
